SSW Advanced Technologies (“SSW” or the “Company”), a portfolio company of Trive Capital, has announced the acquisition of Schott-Gemtron Corporation (“Gemtron”). The acquisition further strengthens SSW’s position as the leading value-added supplier to OEMs in the appliance and HVAC end markets by combining complimentary product portfolios, manufacturing capabilities and strategic facility footprints.
Based in Sweetwater, TN, Gemtron is a specialty glass parts and glass systems supplier to the North American appliance sector. Gemtron manufactures refrigerator shelving and control panels, inner and outer doors for kitchen oven range doors, and glass laundry lids, selling primarily to kitchen appliance OEMs. Since 1989, Gemtron has been operated as a joint venture between Mainz, Germany-based SCHOTT AG and AGC Flat Glass North America Inc., a subsidiary of Tokyo-based AGC Inc.
